I had spinal surgery at mount stuart hospital in december 2020. My surgeon Mr Budd was amazing from the initial consultation to the follow up after surgery. He explained everything in detail and made it easy for me to understand (I am 83). he was very reassuring, as i was quite nervous to have the spinal surgery. I felt confident in going ahead with the surgery and with Mr Budd. The surgery went ahead on the 16th December 2020, with no problems or issues. I am now walking upright, no pain, and hardly needing any pain killers. I would definately recommend Mr Budd and his team for spinal surgery. 100% Myra Skinner

Having suffered with lower lumbar pain through the 2020 COVID lockdown which deteriorated with time resulting in numbness and loss of motor movement of right leg by late September, I was experiencing day to day pain levels which could no longer be managed by any prescription medications for the condition to recover. Following my initial visit to Mr Budd, within 3 weeks I had undergone a scan, follow up appointment and Microdiscectomy surgery at the Mount Stuart, Torquay. On recovery from the operation, I had full motor movement of the RH leg and ZERO lumbar pain returning to all recreational activities which I would have thought pre-operation was an impossibility. While not an insignificant surgical procedure, do not be put off or scared to go forward as the comparison to life 8 weeks post surgery is night and day. The turnaround of my physical condition together with the excellent pre and post operative care I received from Mr Budd means I couldn't recommend higher. Thank you

Mr Budd carried out a lumbar discectomy a few months ago and I wish I had agree to it two years ago! I was very nervous but Mr Budd was wonderful and reassuring. The surgery went really well and I am now completely pain free.

Having suffered with sciatic pain for over 2 years, despite injections and very strong medication, the pain had become so intense (I could not even walk 10 steps first thing in the morning) that we booked a consultation with Mr Henry Budd, where he showed us the result of the MRI scan and answered all my questions, explaining very clearly what needed to be carried out. My spinal decompression operation took place in mid September and Mr Budd visited me personally immediately after surgery to re-assure me that it had all gone well. The very next day I could tell that my sciatic pain had gone away and now recovery from the surgery continues as expected, I have just had my follow up consultation with Mr Budd who concisely explained the extent of the surgical work that was carried out. I am extremely pleased with the outcome and would like to thank Mr Budd for using his expertise which has given me back my mobility, I have no hesitation in recommending him as a very caring surgeon for anyone who has any spinal issues.

Mr Budd spoke to me before the operation and explained exactly what he was going to do during my operation. He gave me the opportunity to ask any questions or to discuss any concerns that I had. A filter was placed in an artery a day or two before the operation to prevent any blood clot damage. The operation was a complete success and has enabled me to walk again. The dressing and stitches on my neck were Removed in a matter of days. The scar is now almost invisible. I no longer live in fear of being paralysed. I will be eternally grateful to Mr Budd for his kindness and professionalism during my stay in hospital and the follow up visits since the operation
